“Theirs is music that can't be put into a category box like "contemporary Christian", new age, or jazz. Trish and Richard offer a fresh response to God's faithfulness, wholeness, wonder, and grace through the gifts of verse, music, and personality that can only be experienced with a sense of awe and awareness of the Spirit's presence.”

“Richard and Trish are gifted musicians and songwriters. Their deep spirituality is inclusive and welcoming and they truly minister to the whole person, body and soul. They bring a centered and grounded presence to worship and are a joy to work with.”

What’s your specialty?
Trish says it’s her eggplant lasagna. But actually it’s 2-4 day retreat events. Though we enjoy performing concerts, directing workshops and leading worship services, we‘re at our best when we can offer all that and more in the course of a weekend event. That way we get to help form community, listening to the hearts of those attending, and responding with sensitivity and direction.

The result for us is sharing Real Life and being charged up by you and your group. The result for your event is a creative dynamic that comes from leadership and participants offering their whole selves in a nurturing and creative atmosphere.

When are you available?
Weekends mostly, but we can sometimes arrange mid-week dates, too. Typically, it’s best to contact us 3-6 months before your event.

“One leaves their 'experience' feeling lighter, inspired, hopeful, reflective, challenged, and claimed as a person of sacred worth.”

Susan Eaton Mendenhall
Retreat Leader
De Forest, WI

How much do you charge?
Our fee is variable depending on length of event and location. In addition, expenses may include: hotel accommodations, childcare for Sammy, mileage or airfare, meals. Following the event, we will send you a voucher with a report of these expenses with receipts.

Even if you have a limited budget, we can often work out some creative arrangement. Please don’t hesitate to contact us and ask.

Is there a contract or something?
Yes. When the details of the event are arranged, we will email or snail-mail you a simple Performance Agreement spelling out everything we’ve agreed upon. You, as the Contact Person (and River’s Voice Wrangler) get a copy to keep for your file, and a copy to sign and return to us. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total fee confirms the date on our calendar.

“The River's Voice is soul food. Their music is blessedly ecumenical - the music of the future.”

Rev. Jan Skogstrom,
Spirit United Interfaith Church
Robbinsdale, MN

What about a sound system?
For regional events where less than 200 people are expected, we usually bring our own sound system (depending on the venue’s size and shape). In the event of air travel or if more than 200 people are expected, you are in charge of arranging a sound system and perhaps an engineer. We have a list of our sound system needs on our equipment rider.

“Trish has a voice like an angel, melodies reminiscent of heaven, and the wisdom of the ages in her words. Richard's depth of knowing, both of life and music, is so apparent in his singing, his writing, his guitar work, and his recording skills. Together, they are The River's Voice -- a fluid, spirited blending of musical living that's a treasure for listeners.”

Kim Edward Adams
Namasté Ministries Vision Council
Jesup, IA

How do I promote the event?
We will send you posters and photos, and direct you to our virtual press kit for models of press releases, bulletin blurbs and email invitations you can use to promote your event. Promoting the event is part of your commitment as Contact Person, and it’s always, always worth the effort to get the word out in intentional ways. Consider delegating this responsibility if you are not excited about behind-the-scenes detail work; it is vital to the success of your event!

Anything else?
Consider us partners in your event. Contact us with your ideas and we’ll listen carefully and reflect to you what we can offer. With twenty-four years of experience between us, we are happy to lead the event in its entirety or plug in where you need us. Thanks for looking into The River’s Voice!

“The River's Voice offers a gift of music to the worship of the Church that takes us deeper into the mystery of God… a valuable, worshipful resource.”
